Houston will host the Tennessee Titans at home in Reliant Stadium this week at 1PM. The game will be broadcast by CBS and features a Texans team that has proven to be perhaps the best team in the NFL up to this point in the season. They have dominated both sides of the ball on way to a 3-0 start so far. The Titans come into the game just 1-2 with their only win coming last week in a thrilling overtime game against the Lions. Houston so far has defeated Denver, Jacksonville, and Miami. Certainly this is less than adequate competition for Houston and Sunday will not provide a much better test for Houston. These are easy games that the Texans have historically not won though and they must show that they can win the games they are “supposed” to win.
The Texans come into this Sunday’s game with a great 29.3 points a game average and has averaged nearly 400 yards a game this season on offense. They have a great balance of both run and pass and can have moved the ball well in all aspects this year. On defense they have been one of the best as well giving up just 14 points a game on average this season. They have held teams to under 70 yards a game, and teams have only gained just over 250 yards of total offense against Houston on average this season.
The Titans are coming off a very emotional win against Detroit last week that came down to the wire in overtime. After getting an onside kick and Hail Mary pass for a touchdown Detroit tied the game. The Titans would get the ball in the OT period first and got a field goal. Detroit then got in field goal range, but decided to go for a short 4th and 1, which they failed to get. This gave Tennessee the victory. Detroit would later say the play was “accidentally” run. Regardless, The Titans do not match up well statistically, but do come into the game with much higher hopes.
