Rockets Have Up-Hill Battle for Playoffs After Loss

The Rockets fell 105-99 to the Hornets on Thursday in a game with serious playoff implications for Houston. The team now will have a much tougher road ahead of them to get into the playoffs. The game went the distance and then some as it went into overtime. This was after the Rockets got off to a great start before a third period marked by horrible shooting from the field. The Rockets must now sit and wait while winning to have any chance for the playoffs.

The Rockets did get some positive performances from their players. Dragic scored 23 in the contest to lead all Rockets. Dragic also led the team in assist with 8. The Rockets outscored the Hornets 51-43 in the first half. In the second half, however, they opened up by scoring just 13 in the third. This is when they allowed the Hornets back into the contest. They again slipped up in overtime as they scored just 12 points while the Hornets scored 18. These two slip ups may have just cost them the playoffs this year.

The Hornets were led by Gordon. Gordon scored 27 points to lead all scorers in the contest. Vasquez also contributed to the win by collecting 9 assists in the game. The Hornets came back in the second half as they outscored the Rockets 44-36. They then were able to score an amazing 18 points in the condensed overtime period. The team is now 20-43 on the season while improving to 11-22 at home.
