The Houston Texans will start the year at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. The Texans come into the game as one of the favorites this season to finally make a big jump. They have little to slow them down in their division that has many poor teams like the Colts and Jaguars. Their match-up against Miami is against a team that is equally as bad as their divisional teams and should produce an easy win. Houston has the edge in just about any category you could break this game down into.
Miami comes into the game with a new QB in Ryan Tannehill who was drafted in the first round of this year’s draft. Tannehill has looked less than spectacular in Miami this preseason but has had glimpses. One of the biggest issues he has is so few weapons to go to. Brandon Marshall was somehow, for some reason, given away to Chicago for next to nothing. This really left Tannehill without a solid number 1 option on the outside and will leave him growing and developing favorite targets as the season progresses.
Houston was plagued by injury last season to most all of their star offensive players including Schaub, Johnson, and Foster. The team should be a lock for the playoffs if they can stay healthy and could transform into a favorite if things shape up just right for them. Sunday will certainly tell us a lot about both these teams who would like to get off to solid starts.
