The Astros got stomped by the Cardinals on Thursday in St. Louis. Houston managed to lose the game despite having a big day at the plate and scoring in 4 innings of the contest. From the mound the team simply was not good enough and for every run they got the Cardinals got 2. Houston continues to shoot their selves down all season and have one of the worst records in baseball at 39-86. The Astros have won just 12 games at home.
Houston did do exceptional while batting and had 11 hits in the game. They scored in 4 of the first 5 innings, and held a 3-0 lead at one point. Unfortunately, pitching broke down for Huston in the middle of the game when they gave up 8 runs between the 4th and 5th inning. In the end the loss was credited to Keuchel who has been terrible all season and is just 1-6 overall.
The Cardinals continue to look good as they eye the playoffs. They had 17 hits in this latest game including a homerun from Freese. The Cardinals put together some huge innings and scored 3 runs or more in 3 innings. The win was credited to Westbrook who is now 13-9. St. Louis moves to an overall record of 68-56. They also improve their home record to 40-26. The cardinals hope to build off this latest surge in offense as the playoffs approach. This team is very much under the radar and could make a significant jump if people do not take them a little more serious.
