Rockets Continue Amazing Home Basketball Play

The Rockets continued to flex their muscles at home on Wednesday as they beat the 76ers 93-87. The game featured two teams that have been flying under everyone's radars this season, but have solid teams that play very well at home. The Rockets improve their home record to 14-4 while improving their overall record to 20-14 this season. The team Has been playing as well as about every team and has done so without having many people talk about their strong team.

The Rockets were led by Scola who led all scorers in the game with 19. Scola also led in rebounds with 10. This also gave him a double-double on the day. Lowry added 5 assist for the team to lead all. The Rockets did have their struggles form the field, but had enough to get the win. The team was up and down with their scoring as they had 2 quarters under 20 points and 2 quarters above 25 points scored. Their best quarter came in the fourth when they scored 32. The team is very close to the lead in the division as they continue to try and catch the Spurs.

Houston Continues to Thrive at Home

The Rockets continued their great home play as they won in Houston against a very good Thunder team. The final in the contest was 96-95 in favor of the Rockets who were led by Kevin Martin. The Rockets improved their overall record to 17-13 on the season while improving their home record to a fantastic 11-3 mark. They have proved that even the best of teams will have to bring their A+ game to Houston if they expect to leave with a victory.

The Rockets Kevin Martin scored 32 in the game to lead all Houston players. Samuel Dalembert collected 12 rebounds to lead the team as well while Kyle Lowry led the team with 9 assists. The team jetted out to an early lead outscoring the Thunder 29-13 in the first. They then gave up most of that lead, however, when they scored just 16 in the second compared to 31 Thunder points. The rest of the game stayed even through throughout.

Rockets lose in Memphis

The Rockets dropped their record to 16-13 on the season while dropping their away record to 6-10 this season Tuesday. The team did some things good, but simply had little success on offense. They scored over 25 points in a quarter just once in the game and did not do themselves any favors gaining ground in the division. Currently, they have been trying to catch up with the Spurs who have led the division just above the Rockets and Mavericks. More work needs to be done if they plan on ever catching the Spurs this season, and as the Mavericks continue to keep winning they will find themselves in the basement.

The Rockets got a big game from Kyle Lowry who led all scorers with 24. Samuel Dalembert led the team with 10 rebounds as well while Lowry added 6 assists. The team was simply pathetic from the field scoring just 17 in the first quarter and 19 in the fourth. The only glimpse of hope was in a 26 point 2nd quarter, but this was over shined by 31 from the Grizzlies. The team was outscored 52- 43 in the first half and this would prove to be the difference in the contest. The team will now try and rebound as they still hope to stay in the division race.

Rockets Win Again Away from Home

The Rockets won another away game against the Suns Thursday in Phoenix. The win comes a day after the team won in Portland against a Blazer team that is very good at home. The game against the Suns Thursday ended 96-89 in favor of Houston. The win brings the Rockets to 16-11 this year and improves their away record to 6-8. The Suns, on the other hand, fall to 11-15 overall this season and are just 5-7 in home games. the Rockets won thanks to a big first half effort. They then had enough in the second half to squeeze by.

The Rockets were led by Luis Scola who scored 16. Dragic led the team in assists with 11 as well to help all scorers. The team had 54 points in the first half as they scored over 25 points a piece in the first and second quarter. The team did not have as much luck in the 2nd half where they scored under 25 in each quarter and just 42 overall 2nd half points. The win brings the Rockets just 2 games back of the first place San Antonio Spurs in the division.

Rockets Quick Start Leads to Win

The Rockets were able to start fast and hold on late to squeak out a win away from home Wednesday. The game ended 103 - 96 in favor of the Rockets over the Portland Trailblazers. The team nearly gave the game away as they struggled down the stretch, but had enough to hold on. The win brings their record to 15-11 overall on the season. It also brings their away record to 5-8 on the year, a mark they would certainly like to improve upon.

The Rockets were led by Chase Budinger who scored 22 points in the contest. This was enough to lead all scorers between both teams. Chandler Parsons added 8 rebounds to lead the team while Kyle Lowry had 5 assists to lead all. The team scored 60 total first half points in the contest, which set the tone for the game. They began to lose their lead in the second half however as the Blazers began to work their way back into the game. This was, in large part, due to a third quarter in which the team scored just 17. In comparison, the team scored 43 points in the 2nd quarter alone. The win brings the Rockets to 2.5 games back of San Antonio in the division. They are tied with the Mavericks for second in the division.

Houston Loses Battle of Texas

The Rockets lost 99-91 Wednesday night in San Antonio against the Spurs. The game was lost by the Rockets after they got off to a fast start and seemed to be showing the Spurs that the state of Texas was not big enough for the both of them. This quickly went away in the second half though as the Spurs decided to show Houston that they must protect the Alamo.

The Rockets blasted off to an early 52-39 lead after the first half of the contest. San Antonia came on even stringer in the second half though and must have had one heck of a halftime speech. The game was a big one for the both as they are in the same division. Even more importantly, they are both in a tight race with Dallas for the division lead as this time. The Rockets, with the loss, now find themselves 1.5 games back of Dallas and the Spurs for the division lead.

The Rockets were let by Martin who scored 29 in the game to lead all scorers. Jordan hill added 10 rebounds while Kyle Lowry led the team with 7 assists. The Rockets fast start quickly evaporated in the second half when the Spurs came out firing and ultimately outscored the Rockets 60-39 in the second half. The Rockets are now 12-10 on the season and have been horrible away from home winning just 3 out of 10 games.

The second half proved to be enough for the Spurs to get the win and put themselves in position to be tied with Dallas for the lead in the division. Tim Duncan showed that he still had what it takes to compete at a high level in the NBA by dropping 25 points to lead the Spurs. The Spurs were down by as many as 18 points in the contest before mounting a comeback. Matt Banner also led the team in rebounds with 10 to help. The win now brings the Spurs record to 14-9 on the year, while they are an amazing 11-1 in home games this season.

If the Rockets want to be the best in the division, they must learn to close out games.
