The Rockets won 103 to 89 against the Kings on Friday at the Toyota Center in Houston. Both teams are in fourth place in their division and have similar records. The win brings Houston to 4-7 on the year while Sacramento drops to 4-8. The game was close in the first half, but Houston took over in the second half of the game. Houston outscored Sacramento 53-37 in the 2nd half, which put the game to bed convincingly.
Sacramento did have one good performance from Tyreke Evans who is showing to be a star for the team. Evans scored 27 points and had 6 rebounds and 5 assist. However, no other starter on the team had double-digits in points and the defense gave up too many easy buckets down the stretch. Sacramento has a hard enough time winning at home and could not handle the home-team Rockets on the night.
Houston found success from many angles. The trio of Scola, Lowry, and Dalenbert combined for 67 total points in the game. Kyle Lowry led all with 25 points. Scola and Dalembert were also on the boards all night giving their team more chances to score. Dalembert finished with 16 rebounds while Scola added 11. These extra opportunities for points proved to be the difference in the game and allowed them to open up a lead in the second half.
It is clear these two teams have some talent, but lack enough to make a big difference in the league right now. Hopefully the Rockets can get more performances from this young trio to change that.
