A look at Houston and Baltimore from a statistical standpoint shows that the two teams should be playing in overtime this Sunday as they face off in Baltimore. The two teams are so close on both sides of the ball that it is hard to imagine the game not coming down to a final drive or play.
The teams are farthest away on offense, but still very similar. Beginning with total yards, the teams are separated by just 34 total yards of offense each game on average. Houston averages 219 yards a game passing while Baltimore averages 213. The two teams are farthest away in rushing as Houston gets nearly 30 yards more on the ground than Baltimore. Both team, however are nearly identical in points scored per game with Houston averaging 23.8 and Baltimore averaging 23.6 points per game.
On Defense the teams get even closer in terms of yards given up. The Houston defense allows 286 total yards while Baltimore gives up 289. Houston’s pass D allows 190 compared to 196 by the Ravens and the rushing is 96 yards per game to 93 yards per game in favor of the Ravens. Both teams are also separated by less than a point given up per game as Houston allows 17.4 points per game and Baltimore gives up 16.6.
The statistics are staggering and it should be the game to watch this weekend as the two teams should mirror each other all game. All signs point to a close game that has overtime written all over it.
